Holiday Treats

Last week I gave you a bunch of ideas that from around the web for some last minute gifts and gift tags.   Today, in case you haven’t filled your belly with enough sweets, you need to go to MADE because Dana has been doing a recipe a day for the month of December.

The last few years I’ve been making cookies or treats for all the neighbors on our street.  And since I don’t feel like spending days making perfect cookies with two little ones running around I like to find something SUPER easy but with high impact.  This year I found a recipe that turned out to be one of the easiest things I’ve made to date.  Here are two recipes for it.  The second site calls them rolo turtles.

I made the second one because I couldn’t find yogurt covered pretzels or roasted/salted walnuts.  It is still really good though.  I left a pack of them in our mail box today for our dear mail lady.  She is so great to come to my door almost daily picking up packages to be mailed everywhere.  She also drove one tire off our driveway a couple weeks ago and I had to get a neighbor who happened to be home to help get her car from being stuck.  Thankfully we didn’t have to jack it up like we did our truck the one time it has happened to us.  (It’s kind of treacherous by the drainage pipe at the end of our driveway.)  So she definitely deserves a little treat!

Hope you are staying sane during this last week before Christmas.  I made the fatal mistake of wanting to go to the outlet mall here in town on Saturday.  I knew it’d be crazy but forgot that not only would parking be difficult to find but getting in and out of the parking lot would be torture.  It took 20 minutes to get into the lot and after we found a spot and ran in one store it took us another 20 minutes to get out of the lot. (It normally would take all of 30 seconds.)  I know better than to go near that place on a regular weekend let alone the last weekend before Christmas.  Thankfully, I think I finished all my shopping today!  I still haven’t painted my daughter’s doll highchair yet though.  I also need to sew my son a black widow sock spider since he’s been requesting one for months now.  Don’t ask me why.  And we bought him some star wars sheets from Target and I’m going to redo them to fit his toddler bed.  So, I’m not out of the woods yet.
